Choosing a doula and understanding how doula support works can naturally bring up lots of questions. This page answers some of the most common queries about what a doula is, how I work, and the support I provide during pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. I am based in Wokingham in Berkshire. I support Berkshire and other locations within a 1-hour driving radius of Wokingham.

Once we have met and agreed to work together, I will send you a client email to sign and return, along with a deposit to secure me as your Doula.

I require a deposit to be paid with your signed contract, then the remaining balance to be paid two weeks before your estimated delivery date.

You can reach me anytime via my contact page or email. I aim to respond quickly, within 24 hours, however please do bear with me if its takes slightly longer as I am likely supporting a birth and will respond asap.

As soon as possible! The earlier you book, the more time we have to get to know each other. However, it is also possible to book right up to your due date if you have a last-minute requirement for a Doula.

I go ‘on call’ for my birth clients 2 weeks before their estimated delivery date and up to 2 weeks after. When I am on call, this means I will be available to you 24/7, so you can call/message at any point night or day. During any ‘on call’ periods I remain local, do not travel or commit to any other plans.

Midwives are medically trained healthcare professionals responsible for the health of the mother and baby, delivering babies, and managing medical complications. Doulas provide emotional and physical support, comfort measures, and advocacy, but they do not provide medical care.

No, you can birth wherever you feel most comfortable. I will support both home and hospital births.

Yes, if you need a Doula at the last minute and I am available, I will be more than happy to support you.

Absolutely, I am happy to support wherever you need me, however this must be with the support of your Consultant Obstetrician, and/or the hospital policy.

My role is to support you both as a couple. I’m here for your partner as well, helping them feel supported as they support you. If they need a moment, a short break, or to care for other children, I remain by your side so you’re never without care. I’m guided by what feels right for you both and will always be respectful of your privacy and your relationship.

Yes, I have been DBS checked. If you require a copy of the certificate, please let me know and I will be more than happy to provide it.
